Formlabs is revolutionizing the hobbyist 3D printing arena with the introduction of its Creator Series, a range of high-quality, affordable resins specifically designed for home printers. Aimed at users of liquid crystal display (LCD) and digital light processing (DLP) printers, these new resins prioritize safety and performance without compromising on cost.
Launching the series are two initial products: Creator Tough Resin and Creator Super Clear Resin, which will be available on Amazon starting November 7, 2024, priced at $45 per kilogram. Formlabs encourages user feedback through a dedicated platform, allowing potential future expansions of the resin line based on hobbyist needs.
This launch seeks to fill a significant gap in the market, providing hobbyists with safer and high-performing materials, which have been scarce until now. The Creator Series is designed to support a more extensive range of users in the hobbyist community, making the process of creating detailed models, figurines, and low-impact parts easier and safer. Unlike their traditional focus on industrial and commercial resins, the new products cater to various non-Formlabs machines, thus broadening access to quality materials at an affordable price point.
Validated for third-party LCD and DLP printers—including popular models from manufacturers like Elegoo and Anycubic—the resins come with pre-configured print settings available through platforms like Chitubox and Lychee Slicers, ensuring ease of use for creators looking for optimal results.
Creator Tough Resin is engineered for those needing durable but slightly flexible components, akin to ABS plastic, while also offering a matte gray finish perfect for painting and finishing. Conversely, Creator Super Clear Resin is tailored for applications where transparency is crucial, such as decorative items or display components, and can be dyed for custom coloring.
With the Creator Series, Formlabs is setting a new standard in the hobbyist resin market, emphasizing health and print quality while providing competitively priced options.
