Visitech, a prominent player in optics for digital light processing (DLP) and powder bed fusion (PBF), has recently inaugurated its first DLP light engine factory in the United States, located in Allen, Texas. This facility marks a significant milestone as it's the first of its kind in the country, showcasing the company's commitment to expanding its operations in North America.
Facility Tour & Company Culture
The grand opening ceremony for this new facility took place about two months prior, with the worldwide team gathering in Texas to celebrate. Adam Kunzman, the Managing Director of Visitech Americas, explained that the building has been meticulously organized into four functional suites. These include areas for shipping, inventory, research and development, customer support, administration, and engineering, which focuses on lifetime testing and troubleshooting.

“Until we finished the clean room, we were in a constant state of churn,” said Kunzman. The clean room, which has just opened, is critical for supporting customer deliveries, as they strive to meet the growing demand.
The facility’s location is strategically near electronics giant Texas Instruments (TI), a key ally in the business. Kunzman’s background in TI’s DLP group facilitated a smooth transition to creating collaborative efforts between the two companies.
A Friendly Workplace
Visitech Americas fosters a friendly and collaborative company culture. Features such as a shuffleboard table and shared lunches symbolize their commitment to team bonding. “We celebrate the successes and challenges, which is really important for our culture,” Kunzman noted.

Flexibility in Operations
The impetus for the new facility arose from recognizing the shifting geopolitical landscape that necessitated increased flexibility in operations. "We needed to build flexibility into our future plans," Kunzman remarked, reflecting on how such foresight has proven advantageous amid evolving tariff discussions.
The company’s core business areas include 3D printing, lithography, and various applications in life sciences and measurements. The new facility allows for localized engineering, manufacturing, and customer support, significantly improving communication and logistics.

Kunzman showcased their unique Bifrost LED module, designed for ease of use and eco-friendliness, exemplifying the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Advanced Facility Features
The clean room serves as a hallmark of the factory, designed with a focus on flexibility rather than immediate occupancy. Inside, testing of lithography units is conducted to ensure precision in product quality, with a robust testing program operating around the clock.

Kunzman emphasized the importance of consistency in their product offerings, highlighting their advanced liquid-cooling systems as a means to prolong the lifespan of components while minimizing contamination risks.
Looking Ahead
As Visitech looks toward the future, the company remains adaptable and prepared for market changes. The team is keen on collaborating with research institutions to innovate in polymer and photopolymers, driving the evolution of their products in tandem with technological advancements.

Visitech Americas' dedication to flexibility and consistency positions it well for continued growth in the competitive landscape of additive manufacturing, ensuring that they are not just reacting but actively shaping the future of their industry.
